LIGHTING OF SHABBOS CANDLES When the house is ready for Shabbos and the table is set the woman of the house lights the Shabbos candles. She lights the candles 18 minutes before the sun sets. In Yerushalayim, she lights the candles 40 minutes before sunset. These should be lit in the room where the meal will be eaten. The Bracha is: Baruch...vetzivanu lehadlik ner shel Shabbos.
