"V'AL CHAI-YIM, CHAYN, VOCHESED SHECHOH-NANTONU" - THANKING HASHEM FOR THE GIFT OF LIFE

The Iyun T'filo explains that life itself is a gift and we shouldbe thankful for it. Even if a person lives a life, full ofembarrassment than a dead lion". The Torah uses the word"dog", to describe something which has to do withshame; while the "lion" comes to show the strongest andmightiest of all animals. Here, though, it comes to show us thateven a "dog" which is alive, is better than a"lion" which is dead. Even the lowest, living personcan grow and improve, something which even the wisest, greatestdead person cannot do.
