Chapter One - Mishna 14

If I am not for myself, who will be for me?
Hillel used to say: "If I am not for myself, who is for me? If I am only for myself, what am I? And if not now, when?" Like the boy in the picture, we must all get started doing "mitzvos" and filling up our treasure boxes. His is filled with "mitzvos" and he has still another sack to add to the treasure. We, too, are always busy doing mitzvos, because if we do not do mitzvos, who will do it for us? At the same time, we should think about how we can help other people. When should we start? NOW!
