Introduction
All Israel has a share in the World-to-Come
It is customary to begin with this Mishna, which is from Sanhedrin (Chap. 10), and which lists some people who, because of their extreme badness, have no share in the World-to-Come. All other Jews, say our Sages, are guaranteed share in the World-to-Come -- even those who have transgressed such serious sins as are punishable by death by beis din, or kareis (excision, or premature death) -- as long as they have not violated fundamental Jewish principles. Of course, first they must become purified from the sins they committed during their lifetime.
